To install the program product, simply execute the file downloaded and follow the instructions that will appear in the Setup wizard. Ensure that you are attached by PC to the target AS/400 and have the Shared Folders mapped or the TCP/IP connection enabled.

After the install programs are restored, the install prompt will appear as follows:

Either leave the library name at the default of SFXLIB or pick another library name for the product to be installed into and press Enter. If the library doesn't exist, the program will prompt you if you want the program to create it.

Once the library exists, press Enter to start the install.

Follow the installation prompts on the screen. Once the install process is over, the authorization entry screen appear as in the following example:

Key in the authorization code given to you for your particular serial number and CPU model and press Enter. The authorization code will give you temporary or permanent access to the product.

Once the authorization code has been entered, the main menu will appear.

Be sure to complete the following options from the main menu to enable the product:

  • Set-up Control Information
  • Work with Job Schedules

These options are defined in detail in the User Manual, but every on-line screen has cursor-sensitive and screen overall help enabled. Be sure that you press Enter after changing options in these functions to ensure that the changes are registered. These programs have a built-in verification feature that allows you to back out of the changes made by using F3 or F12.

Installing the Program Product (PC Software)

This PC portion of the software is provided at no additional cost and is optional. This allows the user to generate Microsoft Excel charts and graphs of the summary data generated on the AS/400's for corporate and system trends and analysis of system performance. This data is available in a non-colour format on the AS/400's during the data generation process automatically.

To install the program product simply execute the file downloaded and follow the instructions that will appear in the Setup wizard. This package is designed to be installed on a shared network drive as the target drive and directory. This allows the data collection and graphing to be shared among more than one network user.

Notice: The Performance Analyst will allow you to use Distributed Data Management (DDM) to link the resulting summary data of an unlimited number of target systems and be stored on one main system. This allows for one point of data collection. You can also specify up to six (6) of these data source systems to amalgamate monthly data from. Only one is shown above. If left blank, the remaining sources are ignored. Each of these main source systems is to be mapped using shared folders to the PC that is to be used for generating the system and corporate charts and graphs.

This will be automatically prompted for you at the end of the install process.

Also: You can view the Performance Analyst Install Tips file in your install directory (file TipsPA.rtf) for additional setup and operational instructions.

Important: The following changes will be made to your SYSTEM.INI file:

[NonWindowsApp]
CommandEnvSize=1024

In order for this portion of the application to work, you must restart Windows after the program install.
