Mapping a Drive to a Shared Folder

You must map a network drive before you can use shared folders.

This function is only available for the Windows 95 version at this time.

To map a drive to a shared folder

  1. Open Network Neighborhood on your Windows 95 desktop.
  2. If the toolbar is not displayed, from the View menu, select Toolbar.
  3. On the toolbar, click the Map Network Drive button.
  4. Select the drive you want to use for your shared folder.
  5. Select or type the path to the shared folder.

Note: The first time you map a drive to a shared folder, you must type the path in the text box. After a specific host has been mapped, it will appear in the pull-down list box the next time you map a drive.

  6. If necessary, type your User ID in the Connect As text box.
  7. Select the Reconnect at Logon option if you want to make this a permanent connection.
  8. Click OK.

When mapping to the AS/400 file system, Qsys.lib, it's best to map to the library with which you want to work (for example, \\atm400\qsys.lib\library.lib, where library is the name of the library on the file system). It takes less time to map a to an individual library than just to \\atm400\qsys.lib.
